Our Mission
Following Jesus Together
Risen Christ Church exists to glorify God by proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ and making disciples who follow him together. Located in Chapel Hill-Carrboro, North Carolina, we are a people called together not just to believe the same things, but to be devoted to one another and display the glory of Christ through our love and faithfulness.
We are rooted in the historic Baptist tradition, committed to the authority of Scripture, and led by a plurality of elders. That conviction shapes how we practice the faith together: through expository preaching, meaningful church membership, believer's baptism, and congregational governance — the whole church sharing responsibility for its life and witness.
Our aim is to foster a culture centered on the gospel — one where we are abiding in Christ, growing in godliness, living as the church, loving our neighbors, and making disciples. We believe this kind of life, lived together, is both our calling and our joy.
Our Story
How We Got Here
We are a new church committed to the ancient Christian faith.
Risen Christ Church was planted in Chapel Hill in March 2024 by a team comprised of members from Imago Dei Church (Raleigh), UNC students, and local families who wanted to see the gospel continue to grow here and join in what God was already doing in the community.
Chapel Hill and Carrboro are home to many neighbors who have never heard or responded to the biblical gospel, and we believe more healthy churches mean more followers of Jesus living in this community, loving their neighbors, and bearing faithful witness to the good news.
We are grateful for the faithful churches that have been here long before us, and for the newer ones planting roots alongside us. We are glad to join that chorus — more voices proclaiming the same Christ in the same town, for the same glory.
